ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The women's lacrosse team landed five athletes on South Atlantic Conference postseason teams while
Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Megan Muir (Bedford, N.H.) were named SAC Women's Lacrosse Attacker of the Year and SAC Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Year, respectively.
Meredith Dawson (Beavercreek, Ohio) was named to the All-SAC Second Team while
Emma Toole (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and
Ellie Wilkins (Chuluota, Fla.) were named to the All-SAC Third Team.Â
Skeffington had an outstanding sophomore campaign, scoring the second-most goals in the SAC with 61 and putting up 68 points, good for fourth in the SAC. She shot 50.4 percent and was 20-26 from free position, the second-best in the conference from the 8-meter. She hit two major milestones this season with her 100th career point and 100th career goal. On top of being named the Attacker of the Year, Skeffington was named to the All-SAC First Team. She earned SAC Offensive Player of the Week honors once this season.Â
Muir's presence was immediately felt for the Trojans as she finishes the season leading the conference in ground balls with 72 and caused turnovers with 46. She is ranked 13th in the nation in ground balls. She also picked up 56 draw controls and was third for the Trojans in goals with 33. She was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week once this season. Muir earned All-SAC Second Team honors as well.
Dawson ranks seventh in the SAC in caused turnovers with 29 and came up with 33 ground balls on the season.Â
Toole had a well-rounded defensive season, ranking second for the Trojans in draw controls with 44. She came up with 23 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. On offense she scored 21 goals and was 11-15 from free position. She was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week once this season.Â
Wilkins had a standout freshman season as well, coming in just behind Skeffington for the Trojans with 47 goals and 54 points.
The Trojans finished the season with an overall record of 10-8 and a SAC record of 8-3.Â
