KANSAS CITY—The United Soccer Coaches announced their selections for All-Region Teams on Tuesday, honoring four Trojans—seniors Franco Antoniolli (Cardoba, Argentina), Marc Vila (Vilassar de Mar, Spain), and Tiago Perez (Pamplona, Spain) and sophomore Juan Pablo Lepervanche (Caracas, Venezuela). Vila and Lepervanche received First-Team distinction, while Antoniolli and Perez were named to the Second-Team.
The foursome also earned All-Region honors from the D2 Conference Commissioners Association last month, along with South Atlantic Conference First-Team selections, after aiding Anderson to their best season since 2011.
AU won the regular season title after going 7-1-2 in league play, amassing 23 points, for their best conference record since 2011. Opening the season with 12 unbeaten matches, the Trojans were ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll for the majority of the season, along with the top spot in the Southeast Region poll for all ten weeks. The national ranking marks the highest in program history.
The Trojans reached the second round of the NCAA Championships, matching their best postseason run ever as a program. Ultimately falling to reigning National Champions, Lynn, AU rounded out the season with an 11-2-6 overall record.
