KANSAS CITY—The United Soccer Coaches announced their winners for regional coaching awards on Wednesday, selecting Anderson's Michael Zion and Sergio Tapia as the Men's College Soccer Southeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
In his 15th year coaching the Trojans and 11th at the helm, Zion earned South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Black and Gold to their second league title in program history. The Trojans finished 11-2-6 on the season, concluding the 2025 campaign in the second round of the NCAA Championships.
Zion earned his 100th victory as head coach this season and currently boasts a 103-win resume, tied for the most by a head coach in program history. Zion's record is tied with that of Rob Miller's, leader of the Trojans when Zion played for the Black and Gold himself.
Tapia was elevated to Associate Head Coach in March 2024, after joining the staff as an assistant in 2020. The duo led Anderson to a historic season, earning nine All-Conference selections, four two-time All-Region selections and the SAC Defensive Player of the Year in goalkeeper Franco Antoniolli. The selections mark the best post-season honors in program history.
