HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Anderson University men's cross country team finished first to close off the regular season at the UAH Chargers Invitational in Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday morning. The meet, comprised of 26 teams, featuring only two South Atlantic Conference teams including Anderson and Lincoln-Memorial (11
th).
"Our men executed the race plan perfectly." said head coach Kevin Eagle. "They got out at an honest pace and moved up well throughout the race. Our top 5 moved up 52 positions collectively from the 2k point in the race to the finish. That is outstanding considering that the pace was quick from the gun."
The Trojans took home first place with an average time of 24:49, and a score of 47. Senior
Elliot Dotson (Simpsonville, S.C.) led the team earning a second-place finish (24:14.0) with graduate student
Spain Vaughan (24:29.2) and sophomore Will Cronin with an 8k personal best (24:38.4) close behind, earning top 10 finishes.
Three Trojans finished inside the top 25 with personal bests including senior
Joey Tindale (24:54.8), junior
Sean McAdams (24:58.6), and freshman
Grayson Gibbons (24:58.6). Finishing off the scoring for Anderson was senior
Angel Galan with a time of 25:32.3.
"After battling sickness our first two meets, it's nice to see the guys put to together as we get closer to the championship portion of the season."
The Black and Gold have a recovery week before heading to the SAC Championships in Greeneville, Tenn. on Saturday, Oct. 25.
