Gaffney, S.C. – Despite building a 17-point lead in the first half of action, Anderson women's basketball (2-5, 0-3 SAC) fell to South Atlantic Conference opponent Limestone (3-2, 1-1 SAC), 71-70, on Tuesday night at Timken Center.
The Saints whittled away at the deficit and pulled within 11 heading into halftime. A quick 8-0 run to begin the third period sparked Limestone to a, 26-11, quarter and a four-point lead to start the fourth.
Limestone led by as many as nine points on several occasions with the last time coming at the 3:12 mark. The Trojans cut the lead to three with back-to-back 3-point possessions with 2:35 remaining. The Saints pushed the lead to four before junior
Ashlyn Sheridan's 3-point basket with 28 seconds left, 71-70, pulled to within one.
The Black and Gold forced a turnover with just under 10 seconds remaining. The final shot taken by AU fell short as time expired.

Zamiya Passmore scored a game-high 23 points while freshman
Rose Gravel earned her second double-double of the season netting 14 points and ripping down 12 rebounds.
Limestone placed three players in double-figures with Dior Shelton scoring a team-high 16 points. Graycie Poe and Megan Watson scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts SAC leader Carson-Newman. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm.
