ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team is getting set for their regular season finale as they travel to take on the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters.
The Trojans enter the weekend with an 11-5 record, coming off a 20-16 win over Mars Hill on senior day. Anderson holds a 5-3 record in South Atlantic Conference play, currently sitting in fifth place in the SAC standings. With a win over LMU, the Trojans will clinch the fourth seed in the upcoming conference tournament and the opportunity to host a home postseason game. In this scenario, Newberry, Limestone, and Anderson will all sit at 6-3. Newberry will get the three seed due to goal differential, while Anderson takes the four seed over Limestone due to head-to-head result in which AU defeated the Saints 15-14 in overtime on March 18th. With a loss to Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, the Trojans would be 5-4 in conference play, earning the fifth seed and a matchup on the road at Newberry.
Lincoln Memorial enters at 7-7 and a 3-5 conference record, tied with Coker in the standings for sixth place and the final postseason spot. The Railsplitters can clinch a spot in the SAC tournament with a win, although with a loss LMU falls out of contention due to tiebreakers. Despite holding the tiebreaker over Coker due to head-to-head, in the scenario of a LMU loss to AU, it would put them at 3-6 alongside Catawba. The Indians defeated the Railsplitters 12-10 last weekend, and that result would give them the sixth seed.
Opening faceoff on Saturday between LMU and Anderson is set for 4:00 p.m., with video and live stat links available at autrojans.com.
