Trojans Able to Flip the Script and Win Game Two at Tusculum

Greeneville, Tenn. -Anderson University Softball team was able to flip the script against South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum, dropping game one, 10-2 (5 innings) and winning game two, 10-1 (5 innings) on Thursday afternoon at Red Edmonds Field. Anderson improves to 27-9 overall and 15-7 in SAC action, while the Pioneers moves to 17-15 overall and 11-9 in conference play.

"I guess at this point in the season when you split, it is a good day for some," said head coach Tommy Hewitt.

Game 1 Summary
Anderson 2            Tusculum 10 (5 innings)

Tusculum used five errors and 12 hits to produce 10 runs in the game one run-rule win. Anderson recorded seven hits, but was limited to just two runs.

Senior Harlie Duncan (12-3) pitched 2.1 innings, giving up eight hits and striking out four batters. Freshman Laken Maxwell pitched the final 1.2 innings, giving up four hits and two runs.

KEY TROJANS

-Morgan Charter went 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored.
-Hannah Whitaker batted 1-for-3 with two RBI.

The Trojans settled in defensively, while collecting 14 hits in the game two win.

Anderson pitching and defense held the Pioneers to just two hits in the nightcap.

The Black and Gold scored four runs in the first inning, followed by two in the third and four in the fourth inning.

Senior Sarah Middleton (7-2) picked up her seventh win of the season. Middleton only allowed two hits and struck out five Pioneers.

-Matti Cantrell batted 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
-Jessica Neadow went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI..

UP NEXT

Anderson will return home to finish up regular season play Saturday against SAC opponent Queens. First-Pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 12 pm.
