Early Offense Lifts UNC Pembroke Past Trojans in Series Finale

ANDERSON, S.C. – UNC Pembroke scored in each of the first four innings, including eighth runs in the third frame, en route to capturing a 13-0 win over Anderson in nonconference baseball action, Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson slipped to 10-15 on the season, while UNC Pembroke moved to 14-11 by claiming its' fifth consecutive victory and sixth win in seven outings.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Will Lindsay posted one of the Trojans' four singles on the afternoon and also reached base twice on walks. Junior Cody Adams reached base on a single and a walk, with catcher Tyler Berry notching a single and a walk. Sophomore Trevor Weisner added a seventh-inning single.

Junior Austin Todd (1-2) absorbed the setback after allowing eight runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings of work on the mound. He walked one batter and struck out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
While the Trojans struggled at the plate, UNC Pembroke posted two runs in the top of the first, a solo run in the second and sent 12 batters to the plate in the decisive third inning, while scoring eight times and built an 11-0 advantage.

UNCP finished out the scoring with two more runs in the fourth frame and neither team was able to push a run across over the final five innings.

UP NEXT
The Trojans will be looking to get back in the win column when they travel to Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday. First-pitch versus the Warriors is slated for 6 p.m.
