INSIDE THE BOX

Leading the Trojans at the plate, junior Breanna Hagerty going 3-for-3 while sophomore Mattie Hamilton went 3-for-4 for the Black and Gold.

Freshman Harlie Duncan (4-1) suffered her first loss of the season giving up six hits while striking out two. Of the four runs scored, one was only credited as being earned.

Limestone's Courtney Smith went the distance recording her second win of the season. Smith gave up nine hits while striking out six Trojan batters

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints took advantage of three Trojan errors that turned into a 3-0 advantage after four innings of play. Limestone tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fifth to claim a healthy 4-0 lead.

The Trojans would cut the deficit in half using back-to-back singles by Hamilton and Hagerty. Hamilton was able to score on a throwing error after sophomore's Ali Anderson's groundball to short with Hagerty scoring on freshman's Abi Webb's sacrifice fly.

Anderson's junior Kasey Grant's one out bunt single in the top of the seventh gave the Trojans a little spark. After advancing to second on a wild pitch, Grant scored on senior Cailah Niles double to left center bringing the Black and Gold within one.

With two-outs and pinch runner Allison Oxner on second, Hamilton singled up the middle to move the tying run to third. Hagerty walked to load the bases with the comeback halted after an infield pop-fly to end the game.
