Game #1
Anderson 4, Winston-Salem St. 0
In game one, Anderson opened the contest up in the fourth and fifth
innings while Trojan hurler Augie Pena took care of business from
the circle. Winston-Salem St. threatened in the top of the second
and the top of the fourth stranding three runners in both frames.

bottom of the fourth with a one out single to left center field.
Sophomore Rachael Barefield followed by hitting her second home run
in as many days. Winston-Salem St. pitcher Mercedes Hargett was
able to retire the next two batters to halt any further damage by
the Black and Gold.
Anderson added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth
capitalizing on two hits and an error by the Rams. Freshman Kasey
Grant led the inning off with a single to left field. Shortstop
Carli Hurtado reached first on a throwing error and was able to
advance to third while Grant scored from first base on the play.
Catcher Cailah Niles hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring
Hurtado from third and knocking in her ninth RBI of the year. Pena
kept the inning going by drilling a two out double off the center
field fence, however the Rams were able to retire the next batter
to end the inning.
Pena retired the next six batters she faced securing the 4-0
victory while recording her fourth win of the year. Hargett (0-2)
took the loss for the Rams giving up six hits while striking out
six.
