ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson sophomore second baseman Jessica
Neidigh has been named the South Atlantic Conference softball
Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday
afternoon.
The Lawrenceville, Ga., native was a perfect 9-for-9 in the
weekend doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial and hit .731 on the week
(19-of-26), with three doubles, a triple and a home run and scored
nine runs, while driving in six runs from her leadoff spot. She
posted a slugging percentage of 1.038.
"Jessica is very deserving of the honor," said Anderson head
coach Tommy Hewitt. "She's tough all the time but when she puts her
mind to it, there aren't many players any better."
She started all six games as the Trojans garnered three wins on
the week and improved to 30-8 on the season. In addition to her
perfect performance at the plate versus the Lady Railsplitters,
Neidigh was 4-for-8 with a home run and a double versus Wingate and
was 6-for-9 with two RBI and four runs scored in the sweep of
Conference Carolinas' member North Greenville.
Neidigh leads the league in batting average, hits and runs
scored and ranks second in doubles, triples, total bases, on-base
percentage and slugging percentage. The 5-foot-8 second baseman is
also a perfect 16-of-16 in stolen bases on the season.
AU plays host to Peach Belt Conference opponent Lander today,
then travels to future SAC-member Coker on Thursday.
