ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson softball team upped its school-record win streak to 15 games by winning game one of a doubleheader, 14-0, past non-conference opponent Young Harris, but dropped the second game 5-4 Tuesday afternoon at Smethers Fields.

With the split Anderson moved to 15-3 on the season, while Young Harris went to 6-8.

Game #1
Anderson 14, Young Harris 0

The Trojans erupted for four runs off two hits in the opening inning and didn't look back, with sophomores Danielle Swygert and Laura Jansky and freshmen Rachel Rhodes and freshman Larissa Ostapiak each recording an RBI.

Anderson tacked on three more runs in the second inning thanks to two extra-base hits. The big blow came off a Swygert triple down the left field line that brought in two RBI - her 16th and 17th RBI on the season.

Anderson put the game out of reach in the third inning, scoring six runs off five base hits, with Abby Child and Swygert each accounting for two RBI.

Ostapiak pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out two batters. The freshman improved to 7-1 on the season.

Katie Gentry started the game for the Mountain Lions. The sophomore left the game in the first inning after giving up four runs. Victoria Sink and Kailey Browning surrendered nine runs in four innings of relief.

Swygert went 2-for-2 with five RBI and three runs scored. Child went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Young Harris 5, Anderson 4

The Trojans picked up two runs in the first inning with two runs off a pair of singles. The first run came off a Swygert single down the right field line that scored Jessica Neidigh with her 27th run on the season. The Trojans' second run resulted from Rhodes grounding out just in front of home plate, scoring Child.

A pair of Anderson errors proved to be costly in the second inning, as the Mountain Lions used six hits to fire back with five runs to take the lead.

Down 5-2 in the third, The Trojans rallied behind Child's solo homer in the bottom of the frame and threatened in the sixth following a leadoff triple from Swygert, but were unable to capitalize.

Freshman Bri Cason led off the seventh with another triple and scored on a Stephanie Hanvey single, but found themselves down 5-4 in the final inning. AU was able to put two runners on but was unable to score the tying run.

Senior Amber Duncan started the game for the Trojans, giving up five runs in four innings of work. Ostapiak came in relief, tossing three scoreless innings.

Sophomore Lisa Wilson received the win for Young Harris, pitching 6 1/3 innings, striking out two.

Swygert went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Child notched an RBI and scored two runs.

After the successful home stand, the Trojans open up a four-game road trip. The first series against Belmont Abbey is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Anderson will return to Smether's Field on March 10th in their first conference matchup against Lenoir-Rhyne.
