ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson senior Lasse Sohrweide notched a pair of goals inside the final ten minutes, as the Anderson men's soccer team outpaced Carson-Newman, 3-1, in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

Anderson (5-2, 2-0 SAC) won its third straight and has claimed wins in five of its last six outings. The Trojans extended their home win streak to 10 and have won 11 of 12 matches in the friendly confines of Trojan Stadium. Carson-Newman (2-4, 1-1 SAC) has dropped lost three of its last four contests.

Anderson senior midfielder Mark Smith found the back of the net from close range in the 32nd minute, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Sohrweide earned his team-leading seventh assist on the score.

With each team battling to gain an advantage, Carson-Newman's Robert Hill evened the score by capitalizing on a blocked shot and his attempt from nearly point-blank range from five yards in front of the goal found its way through a crowd for the Eagles' score at 58:47.

AU reclaimed the lead in the 80th minute, when senior defender Aldo Lopez-Gil drew defenders by racing down the right side of the pitch and dished the ball to Sohrweide, whose shot rolled just to the left of the onrushing Eagle goalkeeper and into the net.

Less than two minutes later, Sohrweide added an insurance goal off a free kick from 25 yards away to give Anderson the two-goal lead.

Each team posted 13 shots on the afternoon, with AU holding an 11-7 edge in shots on goal. The Trojans garnered three corner kicks to Carson-Newman's two. Junior net-minder Lukas Hesse recorded the win for the Trojans, while collecting six hard-earned saves, many just in front of the AU goal. C-N keeper Michael Alley absorbed the loss, while going the distance.

Anderson closes out its four-match homestand by playing host to Conference Carolinas opponent Lees-McRae on Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Trojan Stadium
