MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Anderson men's basketball team had its two-game win streak snapped with a 76-71 setback to Peach Belt opponent Georgia College in non-conference play Tuesday night at the Centennial Center.

The home opener for Georgia College (4-1) saw the Bobcats even the all-time series with Anderson (3-2) at two apiece, with GC winning their sixth consecutive home-opening contest.

Anderson scored the first four points of the night and built a 16-8 lead behind a balanced offensive attack, with four different Trojans reaching the scoring column.

AU held the lead until the 7:17 mark of the first half, when the Bobcats' Jared Holmes scored three of his game-high 24 points from beyond the arc, giving GC a brief 23-22 edge. Trojan guard Jo'el Lamb answered with a layup to give the lead back to the visitors, with Anderson pushing back out to a 32-26 lead on a jumper from junior Denzail Jones with 4:07 on the clock.

The final three minutes of the half saw two ties, with the Trojans scoring the final five points of the frame on an old-fashioned three-point play from C.J. Gleaton and two free throws from forward Stephen Cobb to give AU a 40-36 halftime advantage.

The Trojans continued to build their lead following the break, as senior Taylor Shugart notched a three-point play and Cobb drained a short jumper to boost Anderson to its largest lead, 45-36, with 18:03 on the clock.

But the Trojans went cold from the field, enabling the Bobcats to battle back as GC posted a 25-6 run over the next nine minutes and claimed its largest lead, 61-51, midway through the final half.

Anderson stayed within striking distance, trimming the deficit to just two, 69-67, with just less than two minutes remaining. The Bobcats misfired on a 3-point attempt, but AU was unable to capitalize and Georgia College was a perfect eight-of-eight from the free throw line inside the final minute as AU was forced to foul.

Cobb led the Trojans with 16 points, while Trull and Denzail Jones added 15 points and 11, respectively. Gleaton collected a team-high five rebounds on the night.

Anderson has an eight-day layoff over the Thanksgiving break before opening South Atlantic Conference action at Brevard on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
