ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson's Emily Monteith has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Player of the Week during week number three in the 2010 season, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning. The junior helped lead AU to a successful week, including doubleheader sweeps of Agnes Scott and St. Augustine. Through the week Monteith notched an impressive 1.435 slugging percentage as well as a .560 on-base percentage. During four of the wins, Monteith hit .615 and went 8-for-13 at the plate. In the first win against St. Augustine she notched six RBI and two homers in a 31-0 win over the Falcons. Against Conference-foe Coker, the third baseman led the Trojans to a 6-3 victory by going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The native of Clover, South Carolina recorded six home runs, three doubles and eighteen RBI on the week. "She works extremely hard and the honor is well-deserved," said Anderson head coach Tommy Hewitt." Anderson (7-3 overall, 1-1 conf.) is on the road at Lander this afternoon before returning home to face Mars Hill at Smethers Field, with first-pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
