ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Women's Soccer (6-2-1, 3-0-1 SAC) pitched it's fifth shutout of the season after keeping Clayton State (5-3-1, 3-1 PBC) off the board in a nonconference matchup at home Wednesday evening.
"We scored a great goal against a very organized opponent who was difficult to break down." said head coach
Sarah Jacobs. "I'm proud of the team for finishing out the game with a lot of grit to keep a clean sheet and remain undefeated at home."
The Black and Gold entered the final nonconference matchup of the 2026 campaign looking to protect their unbeaten home record. Asserting dominance in the opening half, Anderson led the contest across the sheet with seven shots to the Laker's five while holding a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
Nearing the end of a scoreless half, junior
Ella Glenn (Simpsonville, S.C.) started a sequence from well outside, threading a pass into the middle to find freshman
Mally May Hanvey (Raleigh, N.C.). With a quick touch, Hanvey redirected the ball into the path of senior
Whitley Anderson (Eatonton, Ga.) who fired it into the back of the net for the lone goal of the match.
Action remained even in the second half, with each team registering two shots and one save apiece. The Lakers recorded two corners to Anderson's zero while the Trojans committed just two fouls for a low-action closing half.
Senior
Aliyah Morgan (Fort Myers, Fla.) tallied her fourth shutout in goal for the Trojans with four saves on the evening.
The Black and Gold return to conference play when they host Tusculum on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
