DALLAS, Texas — Anderson (SC) won the DBU Classic, finishing the three-round event at Dallas AC - Blue with a team score of 880.
Presli Webb led the Trojans with a tie for fifth at 219 (+3), while
Sarah Martin placed seventh at 220 (+4). This tournament win also gave coach
Denton Moore his 32nd win that he has had a hand in at Anderson, making him the all-time winningest coach in AU golf history.
"This win was absolutely incredible! I am so proud of this group. There are not many wins if any in my ten years here that can top this one," said director of golf
Denton Moore. "Coming to Texas and playing in conditions we aren't use to, and in the defending back to back national champions back yard is not an easy ask. So, to get this win is really special, and I really just can't say the words as to how thankful I am for this crews guts and willingness to grind."
Webb tied for fifth with a 3-over 219, posting rounds of 72, 71 and 76. Martin finished seventh at 4-over 220 and closed with an even-par 72 in the third round.
Olivia Roberts tied for 10th at 6-over 222 after opening with back-to-back 71s. Lillian McDermott tied for 14th at 7-over 223 and carded AU's lowest final-round score with a 2-under 70.
"
Presli Webb has been a huge addition to our team this year, and I am so thankful to have her. She was elite this week ball striking, and just so special all around for a top 5 finish.
Sarah Martin has to be the best freshman in the country right now. Back to back top 10 finishes to start her career is really special. She reminds me a ton of her teammate
Olivia Roberts. She is just an absolute dog out there.
Olivia Roberts is just what she is, an all American. Another top 10 finish is just what she does. She is one of the most consistent players I have ever coached. Lillian McDermott was awesome this week! That final round was the best round on the course in the hardest conditions. She was huge for us.
Olivia Pellerin was great this week, and gave us one heck of a gutsy finish in the final round to bring it home."
"We are going to enjoy this one, and celebrate on the plane ride coming home! We get to enjoy a week off, and then we head back out to Achasta for an event we all love playing in. I have to mention how phenomenal it was having Daniel Coker out there with us this week. We don't win this week without him. He is such a great young coach. He is super knowledgeable and has a great calming presence with the girls. I am very thankful to have him with us when he isn't with the guys. It's a massive boost with him out there with us. Love this crew, go Trojans!!"
AU heads to the LeeAnn Noble Memorial hosted by North Georgia on Monday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m. at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Georgia.
