GREENWOOD, S.C. – Anderson University Women's Soccer (0-1, 0-0 SAC) opened the 2026 campaign on the road Thursday evening, falling to nonconference opponent and nationally seated No. 20 Lander University (1-0, 0-0 PBC), 1-0.
Anderson held the Bearcats scoreless through the opening 10 minutes before Lander found the back of the net in the 11th minute. Trojans attempted to respond to the early goal but were unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities.
Offensively, Lander led the match with 14 shots, including nine on goal, and recorded seven corner kicks. Defensively, the Black and Gold battled throughout the contest, recording nine fouls to Lander's 11. Senior goalkeeper
Aliyah Morgan (Fort Myers, Fla.) recorded all 90 minutes in goal, tallying eight saves on the evening.
The Black and Gold return to Anderson for their home opener against Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday, Aug. 29. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
