PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Making their first foray into the National Championship Match of the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, the No. 3 ranked Anderson University women's golf team came up just short of their first national title as they fell to No. 2 Dallas Baptist in the finals of the tournament.
"Goodness, what a year that was," said director of golf
Denton Moore. "I'm so proud of the girls. Feels like each year they make more and more history. This one was wildly special. To grind through the hardest region in the country to get to get to nationals was special. But, to get here, and play 126 holes in 7 days, beat the No. 4 and No. 1 ranked teams in the country on a 36 hole match play day to get to the national championship match was incredible."
"I don't hae enough words right now to say how happy I am for an incredible group of seniors who have given me absolutely everything. I will forever remember the class of 2026. Kennedy, Paige, Aly and Claudia took us to places that no team has ever been in athletic department history. They kept getting closer and closer each year to the ultimate prize. Although we fell short today, there is so much to celebrate in this year, and also this week. I am incredibly proud of our program. I am just thankful for all of their effort and grit they put into this season. It is a special group that will go down in Anderson University history! Go Trojans!
This is the second straight year that the Trojans have made it to at least the semi-finals, after last making it that far in 2022. The Trojans fell to Dallas Bapist in the national semifinals in Boulder City, Nev. last season after also beating Findlay in the opening round.
