PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The Anderson University women's golf team has punched its ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championship match, battling through two closely contested matches Friday to earn a spot in Saturday's title round.
The Trojans opened play with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over No. 4 seeded Findlay before turning around and doing it again, defeating the top-seeded Wingate Bulldogs 3-2 in the semifinals to advance to the championship.
Anderson's path to the title match was anything but easy. Against Findlay in the first round, the Trojans edged past the Oilers by a single point in a match that came down to the wire. The semifinals brought another familiar storyline — a tight battle against Wingate, with Anderson again prevailing 3-2 to eliminate the Bulldogs and claim their spot in the championship.
The Trojans will face Dallas Baptist University in the NCAA Division II Women's National Championship match on Saturday, May 16, with a first tee time of 9 a.m.
