CLEVELEAND, Tenn. – Eight Trojans from the Anderson University men and women's track & field programs competed at the Lee University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 9, recording two top 5 finishes and a program record.
In her last meet wearing black and gold, senior
Emma Whitaker (Inman, S.C.) set a new program record time in the 800m after finishing ninth with a time of 2:11.47. In the women's 5k, junior
Kennedy Roush (Greer, S.C.) ran a 17:18.15 5k to finish third out of 18 finishers on the track. Behind Roush was sophomore Beth Ludwick (Roebuck, S.C.) who posted a 5k time of 17:58.90 to finish 11th. Sophomore
Molly Hanlon (Cumming, Ga.) finished 15th in the women's 1500m after crossing the line with a time of 5:04.53.
On the men's side, three Trojans finished in the top 10 of their respective events. Junior
Angel Galan (Santa Marta de Tormes, Spain) finished fifth in the 3000m steeple with a time of 9:11.83. Recording the lone personal best on the track was freshman
Gavin Malloy (Harrisburg, N.C.) in the men's 800m, posting a time of 1:51.83, finishing 8th in the field. Just .02 short of a personal best, junior
Joey Tindale (Rock Hill, S.C.) recorded a 1500m time of 3:48.09. In the men's 5k, freshman
Grayson Gibbons (Simpsonville, S.C.) posted a mark of 15:04.38 to finish 16th out of 30 finishers in the event.
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place in Emporia, Kan. on Thursday, May 21-Saturday, May 23.
