SUMTER, S.C. -- The Trojans closed out their regular season with a nonconference battle against USC Sumter which came away in favor of Anderson in a 7-0 win.
The Trojans didn't drop a point, beginning with a doubles sweep. At the No. 1 position, junior
Elena Ronconi (Salta, Argentina) and senior
Grace Weaver (Lake City, S.C.) earned a 6-3 win. Sophomore
Ensley Collins (Cleveland, Tenn.) and junior
Gigi Sompayrac (Knoxville, Tenn.) came up with a 6-1 win at court two and senior
Alexandria Braithwaite (Oakville Ontario, Canada) and freshman
Westlyn Morris (Inman, S.C.) earned a 6-3 win at court three.
In singles, freshman
Kate Johnson (Isle of Palms, S.C.) led the way with 6-3, 6-4 wins at the No. 1 spot.
At No. 2, junior
Jadyn Koenes (Grand Rapids, Mich.) earned 6-3, 6-3 wins.
Sophomore
Taylor Hendrick (Conway, S.C.) earned a gritty 7-5, 6-2 win at court three.
At the No. 4 position, Collins came away with a clean 6-0, 6-0 win.
Junior
Mara Opre (Atlanta, Ga.) followed suit with 6-0, 6-0 wins at court five.
Morris closed things out at court six with 6-0, 6-0 wins of her own.
The Trojans are back in action tomorrow, April 16 when they take on No. 4 Newberry in the South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals in Sumter, S.C.
