ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson (14–8, 4–8 SAC) dropped both games of a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader to Lincoln Memorial (14-9, 8-4 SAC) on Saturday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium, falling 8-6 in the opener before dropping a 14-8 decision in the nightcap.
In game one, Anderson battled back from an early deficit but could not overcome a six-run sixth inning from Lincoln Memorial.
Lincoln Memorial struck first with two runs in the third inning before Anderson answered in the bottom half when Riley Matthews (Waxhaw, N.C.) launched a solo home run to left field to cut the deficit in half.
The Trojans moved in front in the fifth inning after Adams Faucett (Spartanburg, S.C.) reached on an error ahead of a two-run homer from Braeden Harrison (Spartanburg, S.C.), giving Anderson a 3-2 advantage.
The Railsplitters responded with a six-run sixth inning to regain control of the contest.
Anderson attempted to rally in the seventh. Faucett drew a walk to start the inning before Harrison delivered again, blasting his second two-run home run of the game to bring the Trojans within three runs. Later in the inning, Levi Medford (Canton, N.C.) scored on an RBI double from Myles Denton (Brentwood, Tenn.), trimming the deficit to 8-6.
The Trojans threatened in the ninth after Brooks Mauro (Clemson, S.C.) doubled down the left field line with two outs, but Lincoln Memorial recorded the final out to secure the win.
Harrison led the Anderson offense with two hits and four RBIs, highlighted by his pair of home runs. Denton finished with two hits and an RBI, while Mauro also recorded two hits. Matthews added his solo home run as part of Anderson's nine-hit effort.
In game two, Lincoln Memorial used a nine-run sixth inning to pull away for a 14-8 victory.
The Railsplitters jumped out to an early lead with a run in the first inning and added three more over the next three frames to build a -–0 advantage.
Anderson responded in the fifth inning. Brooks Mauro (Clemson, S.C.) drew a walk and later scored as the Trojans pushed across three runs to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Lincoln Memorial answered with a decisive nine-run sixth inning to extend the lead.
The Trojans continued to battle at the plate. Braeden Harrison (Spartanburg, S.C.) delivered a three-run home run to highlight a three-run sixth inning for Anderson. The Trojans added two more runs in the seventh, including an RBI single from Dom Bello (Hialeah, Fla.) and a sacrifice fly from Adams Faucett (Spartanburg, S.C.).
Zach Stover (Mooresville, N.C.) paced the Anderson offense in the nightcap with three hits and two RBIs, while Bello added two hits and a run driven in. Denton also recorded a multi-hit game with two base knocks.
Anderson returns to action on Tuesday, March 10 as they welcome in Claflin for a single game non-conference matchup at 1:00 p.m.
