Trojans Tabbed for Fifth in Preseason Coaches’ Poll, Four Trojans Named Athletes to Watch

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Anderson University Men's Track & Field program sits fifth with 103 points in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced by conference on Friday.  

Receiving 11 first-place votes with a score of 132 to lead the poll was No. 1 Wingate, followed by No. 2 Catawba with 110 points. Carson-Newman sits third with one first place vote and a score of 109 just ahead of No. 4 Lenoir-Rhyne with 104 points and No. 5 Anderson with 103.  

The sixth spot was given to Mars Hill with 28 points with Newberry and Lincoln Memorial tabbed for seventh and eighth with 71 and 65 points respectively. Tusculum took the ninth spot with a score of 64, followed by UVA wise with 43. No. 11 Coker and No. 12 Emory & Henry rounded out the poll with 35 and 27 points respectively.  

In addition to the preseason rankings, the conference also released the 2026 Outdoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch list. The list mentioned four Trojans including sophomore Brayden Anderson (Yakima, Wash.) and seniors Lambdin Hardy (Commerce, Ga.), Elliot Dotson (Simpsonville, S.C), and Spain Vaughan (Greer, S.C.). 

The Black and Gold officially begin the 2026 outdoor campaign when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to compete in the Charlotte 49er Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21. Results can be found at AUTrojans.com.
