Trojans Fall to Bears in Series Opener

HICKORY, N.C. – The Anderson University (15-9) baseball team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne (16-4-1) by a score of 12-0 in seven innings Friday evening at Durham Field in South Atlantic Conference action.

Lenoir-Rhyne struck early with a pair of runs in the first inning and added two more in the second to build a 4–0 advantage.

The Trojans recorded their first hits of the game in the third inning when Dom Bello (Orlando, Fla.) singled to right field before Adams Faucett (Spartanburg, S.C.) followed with a base hit through the right side, but Anderson was unable to push a run across.

The Bears extended their lead in the fourth inning with a two-run home run before adding three more runs in the fifth to stretch the margin to 9–0. Lenoir-Rhyne added three additional runs in the seventh inning to close out the contest.

Faucett and Bello accounted for Anderson's two hits in the game.

On the mound, Kaleb Owens (Easley, S.C.) took the loss after allowing six runs on six hits across four innings while striking out three. Caleb Costa (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) worked two innings in relief and struck out two.
