MILL SPRING, N.C. – Anderson University Men and Women's Track & Field took the short drive to Mill Spring, N.C. to compete in the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invite hosted by Tryon International on Friday and Saturday.

In the field on the women's side, junior
Maggie Long (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) rewrote the Anderson record book with a 5.41m women's long jump for a 10
th-place finish out of 44 jumpers. In the women's triple jump, Junior
Cate Murawski (Mount Prospect, Ill.) jumped 9.97m for a new personal best. Freshman
Claire Gilliam (Simpsonville, S.C) finished 6th in the women's high jump after clearing the 1.60m bar. In the women's pole vault, sophomore
Avery Marshall (York, S.C) cleared the 3.35m bar to finish 4th with junior
Jorja Fox (Easley, S.C) in 10th after clearing the 3.05m bar.
On the men's side, seniors
Lambdin Hardy (Commerce, Ga.) and
Will O'Cain (Columbia, S.C) vaulted 4.35m and 4.20m respectively for two top 10 finishes on the weekend. Junior
Jordan Gross (Chester, Va.) notched a new personal record in the long jump with a distance of 7.02m to finish 7th out of 59 jumpers.
Anderson men's throws had a successful weekend with three personal records broken. Freshman
Avery Butler (Seneca, S.C.) posted a PR in both events, tossing 12.98m in the weight throw and 13.76m in shot put for an 11th-place finish out of 67 in the field. Shortly behind Butler was junior
Chase Brightharp (Trenton, S.C.) in 18th with a personal best toss of 13.2m.
The Black and Gold had a big weekend on the track for personal bests. For the women, junior
Abby Kwasny (Winston-Salem, N.C.) ran a personal best 60m hurdles with a time of 9.32 to finish 8th out of 35 on the track. Sophomore
Molly Hanlon (Cumming, Ga.) notched a new PR in the 800m, crossing the line in 2:28.04. Freshman
Emory Dargan (Columbia, S.C) recorded a top 5 finish in the 3k with a time of 10:52.64.
The men tallied four career best times on the track. Sophomore Johnny McCoy (Easley, S.C) recorded a 23.54 personal best in the 200m. Redshirt-sophomore
CJ Young (Clinton, S.C) added another personal best for the Trojans in the 60m, crossing the line for a time of 7.25. In the men's mile, junior
Sean McAdams (Greenville, S.C) finished 7th with a 4:19.53 career record in the event. Freshman Nathan Powell (Johnson City, Tenn.) recorded the Black and Gold's final personal best finish of the weekend in the men's 800m, stopping the clock at 1:54.36 for a fourth-place finish in a field of 51.
"The team is really showing tremendous growth." added Stephenson. A lot of PR's and school records, with a few very close to a program record. I like the spot we are at with two weeks to work and get ready to compete at conferences."
The Trojans will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the JDL Last Chance Meet on Saturday, Feb. 21 before heading back to Winston-Salem for the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 28-March 1.
