ANDERSON, S.C. – The Trojans opened their season at home on Thursday night, picking up a hard fought 0-1 result against the No. 19 Montevallo Falcons for the first ever matchup between the two programs.
While Anderson outshot Montevallo 12-11, recording five shots on goal to the Falcon's two, the Trojans were unable to respond after the late goal. The Falcons opened the scoring during the second half with an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute by Shadia Valenzuela (Buenaventura, Colombia). Leading the offense for the Black and Gold was Junior
Kaitlyn Gregory (Cincinnati, Ohio) with three shots, followed by Senior
Kylie Swanson (Grapevine, Texas) and Senior
Catherine Nardella (Clovis, Calif.) with two.
Anderson led the matchup with seven corner kicks while the Falcons committed seven fouls, conceding five.
The Trojan's home stretch continues Saturday Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. as they take on the Lander Bearcats.
