CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Opening their season with a visit to the site of this years NCAA Regional competition, the No. 2 Anderson University women's golf team wrapped up a fifth-place finish in the NCAA South Regional Preview event hosted by Lee University at Cleveland Country Club.
Wingate took home the team crown at +13 while Lynn, Lander and Lee finished ahead of the Trojans on the team leader board. Anderson finished at +40 as a team, carding rounds of +16, +6 and +18 on the week.
Freshman Olivia Roberts (Chesnee, S.C.) posted the best result of the week for the Trojans in her collegiate debut, finishing third in the event and getting named to that All-Tournament team. Roberts was able to shoot +1 on the week following rounds of 74, 71 and 72. Senior Aly Francis (Stockbridge, Ga.) finished 21st on the leader board carding rounds of 76, 74 and 76 to finish +10 for the event.
Seniors Paige Paolucci (Blythewood, S.C.) and Kennedy Gooding (Lexington, S.C.) finished 42nd and 46th respectively in the tournament, just one stroke off each other as Paolucci finished +16 while Gooding rounded out the week at +17. Senior Claudia Hastings (Liverpool, England) turned in a 63rd place showing in her first event with the Trojans to round out the team scoring.
Individually, sophomore Olivia Pellerin (Greenville, S.C.) and freshman Lilly McDermott (Yorktown, Va.) were able to finish 21st and 34th respectively, with Pellerin shooting +10 on the week and McDermott carding a +14 in her first collegiate tournament.
The Trojans return to action next week as they make the trip to Gulfport, Fla. and the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club for the 2025 Eckerd Invitational on September 22-23.
