Trojans Shine at Electric City Invite

ANDERSON, S.C.-- The Trojans showed out in front of a home crowd this weekend, competing at the Electric City Invite. Anderson's men's side finished 1st of 21 teams, while the women finished 2nd. The Black and Gold tallied three school records and a national qualifier, won seven events, earned twenty Top-5 finishes and boasted 28 personal bests. 

Seven Trojans won their respective events, led by freshman Avery Marshall (York, S.C.) who cleared the 3.79m bar in the women's pole vault, for a personal best, school record, national provisional mark. Anderson also claimed the 2nd-4th spots on the leaderboard, with Rylie Jenkins (Loranger, La.) clearing the 3.40m bar, Jorja Fox (Easley, S.C.) secured a PR 3.30m mark and Kirsten Leonard (Hoover, Ala.) made the 3.20m jump. 

On the men's side, Lambdin Hardy (Commerce, Ga.) also broke the standing school record, clearing the 4.60m bar. He finished 2nd in the competition and was followed by Will O'Cain (Columbia, S.C.) who finished 4th with a 4.35m jump. 

Also in the field, Chase Brightharp (Trenton, S.C.) broke the men's discus school record, finishing 3rd with a 44.98m throw. He also PR'd in his other two events with a 14.00m shot put mark and 43.58m hammer throw. 

In women's throws, Sarah Wimpee finished Top-5 in two of her events, throwing a PR mark of 40.99m in the women's discus to finish 2nd and an 11.36m mark to finish 5th in shot put. 

In jumps, Simeon Respress (Cornella, Ga.) recorded a 6.96m long jump to win his event. Fellow Trojan Jordan Gross (Chester, Va.) boasted a PR mark of 6.93m to finish 3rd. Respress also finished 2nd in the high jump event with a 1.95m mark.  

On the women's side, Maggie Long (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) finished 5th in triple jump at 10.69m, while Cate Murawski (Mount Prospect, Ill.) posted a personal best 4.57m long jump mark. 

On the track, Will Cronin (Lexington, S.C.) won the men's 5000m invite with a PR race time of 14:55. He was followed by Eddie Wedgewood (Easley, S.C.), who finished 3rd with a personal best time of 15:20. 

Sarah Rudolph (Winter, Springs, Fla.) won the women's 5000m open race with a time of 19:21. In the women's 5000m invite, Elizabeth Ludwick (Roebuck, S.C.) PR'd with a 17:55 2nd-place finish, followed by Natalie States (Greensboro, N.C.) in 5th with a time of 18:31. 

In the men's 10,000m, David Williams (Irmo, S.C.) finished 3rd with a PR time of 32:10. 

Competing in the mile events, Joey Tindale (Rock Hill, S.C.) won the men's invite with a PR time of 4:08, while Noah Stump (Easley, S.C.) PR'd and finished 4th in the open event with a time of 4:25. 

Lacey Boozer (Simpsonville, S.C.) won the women's 400m with a time of 55.51. Abby Kwasny (Winston-Salem, N.C.) finished 3rd in the 400m hurdles race with a personal best time of 1:07, and Mackenzie Moretina (Kansas City, Mo.) finished 5th in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 15.21. 

In men's hurdles, Johnny McCoy (Easley, S.C.) finished 4th with a PR time of 57.89, followed by Ethan Linder (Spartanburg, S.C.), who ran a personal best 58.97. Brayden Anderson (Yakima, Wash.) finished as the fastest Trojan in the 400m, with a PR time of 50.32. 

Competing unattached at the event, Trojan Angel Galan (Santa Marta De Tormes, Spain) won the men's 3000m steeplechase, finishing in 9:22, while Molly Hanlon (Cumming, Ga.) finished 5th in the women's race with a time of 12:39. 

In the decathlon, Tyler Farris (Dacula, Ga.) finished 3rd with a PR score of 5722 points. He recorded personal best marks in the 100m (11.33), pole vault (4.36m) and discus (31.33m) events during the competition. David Brown (Menomonie, Wis.) totaled four event PRs—100m (12.08), pole vault (3.86m), shot put (10.28m) and discus (32.73m). 

AU will continue their season next weekend at the Lee Fast Break Invite in Cleveland, Tenn.
