Trojans Suffer First SAC Loss to Limestone 12-9

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans fell short 12-9 against Limestone University who has been steady in the national rankings until this week. Anderson moves to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the South Atlantic Conference with the loss while Limestone moves to 10-4 and 7-1 in the SAC.

"We just didn't show up to play today," said head coach Nicole Voci. "As a young team, we're still learning what it truly means to believe in ourselves. We know we are much better than what we showed today, and hope to see Limestone again in the next couple of weeks. There is a lot of lacrosse left this season, so until then, onto the next!"

The Trojans went on an early 3-0 lead, led by Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.), Emma Toole (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and Megan Muir (Bedford, N.H.). The Saints answered with two before taking a 6-5 lead by the end of the first half.

The third quarter hurt the Trojans as they only put away one goal. Despite tying the fourth quarter 3-3 the Saints came away with the 12-9 win.

Goalkeeper Amelia King (Dacula, Ga.) came up with 10 saves for a career-high .455 save percentage. She also picked up five ground balls, tying her career-high.

Skeffington notched her eighth hat trick of the semester with four goals and one assist and picked up one draw control. She was 2-3 from free position.

Muir had two goals on the day with two ground balls and two draw controls.

Toole came up with two goals, three draw controls and two ground balls. She was 2-3 from free position.

Ellie Wilkins (Chuluota, Fla.) was the only other goal-scorer for the Trojans with one goal.

The Trojans are back in action on Saturday, April 5 when they host Catawba College at 3:00 p.m. for the Morgan's Message/Suicide Prevention Game.
