ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson men's and women's tennis are headed to Sumter, S.C. on Wednesday for the South Atlantic Conference Tennis Tournament.
The Trojans clinched berths in the 2025 SAC Tournament when the regular season wrapped up on Sunday.
On the men's side, the Trojans' pivotal 4-0 win over Carson-Newman gave AU the edge over UVA Wise to qualify for the field. With their 6th conference win in the books, the Trojans got the help they needed on Saturday and Sunday. No. 9 Wingate blanked UVA Wise 4-0, clinching a berth for AU. Carson-Newman's 4-1 win over Newberry sealed the final standings.
The No. 7 seed Trojans (14-8, 6-6 SAC) will match up with No. 2 seed Wingate (15-1, 11-1 SAC) at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16. In the last time that the two teams met in the SAC Tournament, the No. 30 Bulldogs prevailed by a 4-2 score over No. 19 AU back in 2022.
On the women's side, AU dropped a competitive 4-2 dual to No. 50 Carson-Newman that bookended their regular season. Following a Lincoln Memorial 4-3 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, the Trojans and Railspitters were deadlocked with the same conference record. The Trojans owned the tiebreaker, due to their 4-3 win on March 1.
Also sitting at the No. 7 seed, the Trojans (17-7, 6-6 SAC) take on No. 2 seed Wingate (15-4, 11-1 SAC) at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16. The No. 19 Bulldogs defeated AU 4-3 in their only meeting this season.
