Trojans Drop Tough Doubleheader Against UVA Wise

Wise, Va. – The Anderson University (13-7, 4-5 SAC) baseball team played a challenging doubleheader against UVA Wise at Stallard Field, resulting in two hard-fought losses for the Trojans.

Game 1 Recap: Despite a valiant effort, Anderson fell to UVA Wise with a final score of 9-4. Anderson's offense was led by Braeden Harrison and Zach Stover, who both had standout performances. Harrison went 3-for-5 with a double, while Stover contributed with a home run and a double, driving in one run. Brooks Mauro also hit a home run, adding to the team's score.

  • First Inning: Anderson took an early lead when Braeden Harrison singled and advanced to third on a walk and a fielder's choice. Dom Bello then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Harrison to score.
  • Sixth Inning: Brooks Mauro hit a solo home run to left center. Later in the inning, Zach Stover doubled and eventually scored on a throwing error by the second baseman.
  • Eighth Inning: Zach Stover hit a solo home run to left field, adding another run to Anderson's tally.

Pitcher Walker Case took the loss, but Camden Watts and Kaleb Owens provided solid relief, with Owens striking out three batters over 3.2 innings.

Game 2 Recap: In the second game, Anderson fought hard but ultimately fell short with a 4-2 loss. Kyle Caccamise was a key player, driving in both of Anderson's runs with a single in the third inning. Braeden Harrison continued his strong performance with a double and a walk. Shane Thomas and Carson Molinaroli each contributed with a hit and a run scored.

Pitcher Joshua Legnard took the loss, but Jacob Ingram and Charlie Sauls provided effective relief, with Ingram allowing only one unearned run over 1.1 innings.

The Trojans return to action on Tuesday, March 11 as they play host to the Lions of Emmanuel University.
