ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University (14-9) baseball team faced a challenging game against Emmanuel University (9-16) at Anderson Memorial Stadium, resulting in an 18-8 loss. Despite a strong start, the Trojans were unable to maintain their momentum against Emmanuel's powerful offense.
The game began with Anderson taking an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning. Braeden Harrison and Dom Bello contributed significantly, with Harrison grounding out to shortstop and Bello singling up the middle to bring in the first run. Brooks Mauro walked, followed by Gray Wells' single, which set up Zach Stover's walk to bring in the second run.
Emmanuel quickly responded, scoring three runs in the second inning and maintaining a steady offense throughout the game. Ryan Muniz's double to left center brought in two runs, and Jesus Cruz's single through the left side added another. Emmanuel's Brock Wollin homered to left center in the first inning, setting the tone for their aggressive play.
Anderson's defense struggled to contain Emmanuel's hitters, with the visitors scoring seven runs in the sixth inning alone. Landon Mokris' double to center field brought in three runs, followed by Hayden Beall's double to right field and Zachary Bergstrom's triple to center field, which added to Emmanuel's lead.
Braeden Harrison doubled up the middle in the fifth inning, bringing in Carson Molinaroli for an unearned run. Brooks Mauro's double down the left field line in the same inning brought in two more runs.
The game concluded with Emmanuel scoring three more runs in the ninth inning, solidifying their victory. Anderson's efforts in the final inning were not enough to close the gap, with pinch hitters Ben Bullard, Carter Hughes, and JT Carter unable to bring in any runs.
The Trojans return to action this weekend as they make the trip to Greeneville, Tenn. to take on Tusculum in a conference showdown.
