WISE, Va. – Anderson University (13-5, 4-3 SAC) powered past UVA Wise (16-6, 6-4 SAC) in an 11-2 victory at Stallard Field Saturday afternoon. The Trojans came alive with a 14-hit performance to defeat the Cavaliers.
Walker Noland (4-1) picked up the win for Anderson, tossing six solid innings while allowing just two earned runs on seven hits. Noland struck out four and walked one. Corben Childers earned his second save of the season, closing the game with three innings of two-hit, scoreless relief.
Shane Thomas led the charge for Anderson at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Brayden Owens also had a big game, collecting three hits and driving in three runs. Gray Wells contributed with two hits and two runs, while Dom Bello, Braeden Harrison, and Ben Bullard each had two hits.
The Trojans broke the game open in the second inning, scoring two runs off a Zach Stover double. They added four more in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Owens. UVA Wise, despite strong individual efforts, couldn't mount a comeback against Anderson's offensive onslaught.
The Trojans will look to continue their success tomorrow as they wrap up the series with UVA Wise with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
