Trojans Dominate Tusculum for Fifth-Straight Win

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Trojans men's lacrosse team earned their fifth-straight win on Saturday, rounding out a three-game road stretch with a 28-9 victory over Tusculum. AU moves to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference contests.

A series of scoring streaks defined the dominating performance for the Trojans, who scored seven unanswered to open the game. The Pioneers found a pair of goals to close out Q1 before AU picked up five more to start Q2. Tusculum added a third goal halfway through the second quarter, and the Trojans answered scoring eight straight.

The Black and Gold entered halftime with a 21-4 advantage. The 14-goal second quarter ranks as the second-best scoring quarter for the Trojans in program history.

The offense let up after the break, but continued to outdo the host team, as the Trojans won Q3 3-2 and Q4 4-3.

Three Trojans added five goals to their season resume in the matchup—Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.), Matthew Rodgers (Carmel, Ind.) and Radyn Badraun (Mission Viejo, Calif.)--while Aiden Dixon (Forest Hill, Md.), Ryan Butch (Alpharetta, Ga.), Will Hazelhurst (Greenville, S.C.) and Eli Marshall (Kennesaw, Ga.) all contributed braces to the scoring.

Anderson outshot Tusculum 64-33, with 42 shots coming on frame compared to TU's 20. The Trojans collected 48 groundballs, won 30 of 40 faceoffs and capitalized on 4 of 5 man-up opportunities.

Adin Laughlin (Wooster, Ohio) earned the win in goal, tallying six saves in the first half. Bobby Devenport IV (Wildwood, Ill.) added three saves in the third quarter, followed by Nate Pepe (Tampa, Fla.) with two saves to finish off the game.

The Trojans return home for the next three games, beginning next Saturday (March 29) against Coker. The game is scheduled for 7 PM.
