HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Trojans traveled to Tennessee on Wednesday for a mid-week match-up against the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters, securing a 25-12 win to move to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference play.
"Really excited to see the team play this fast and well on a long road trip," said Head Coach Albert Mitchell. "We shared the ball well and played together in all phases."
Outscoring Lincoln Memorial 8-1 in the opening quarter, Anderson's offense proved to be too much for the Railsplitters. AU took a 14-3 lead into halftime. Q3 saw the Trojans outscore the Railsplitters 6-3, ultimately coming away with a 25-12 victory.
Trojan junior Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.) continues to be a dominating presence for the Trojans offensively, recording a career-high seven goals in the contest. Bitterman moves to 31 goals for the 2025 campaign, leading the team.
Also breaking a personal record was Brodie Deutsch (Wilmington, N.C.) who recorded a career-high four goals on the afternoon. Deutsch also tallied an assist, groundball and a caused turnover.
Matthew Rodgers (Carmel, Ind.) put up two goals and an assist to combine for three points—a performance that would secure him the milestone of reaching 100 career points wearing the Black and Gold. Also recording braces in the contest were Cole Sparks (West Islip, N.Y.) and Jacob Kirchhofer (McKinney, Texas), who each contributed both a pair of goals and assists.
In total, 13 Trojans got on the scoresheet, including Diego Lopez (Aliso, Calif.) and James Watson (Cumming, Ga.) who recorded their first goals of the season.
Aiden Dixon (Forest Hill, Md.) tacked on a list of stats of his own, going 12-15 in faceoffs and recording a goal, an assist, seven GBs and two CTOs. AJ Rush (Chantilly, Va.) won 11-16 faceoffs and also added a goal to the Trojans tally.
All three of AU's goalies saw playing time in the contest, combining for 18 saves on the day.
The Trojans again travel to Tennessee this weekend, facing Tusculum on Saturday (March 22). Opening faceoff is set for 4 PM.
