Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Anderson University Trojans secured a pivotal South Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep over the Tusculum Pioneers on Friday at Pioneer Park. The Trojans improved to 16-9 overall and 6-5 in SAC play with the two hard-fought victories.

Game One: Anderson 9, Tusculum 7

Anderson came out strong in the first game, using a five-run third inning to propel them to a 9-7 victory. The offensive outburst was led by Dom Bello, who launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Braeden Harrison contributed with a three-hit performance, scoring twice and driving in two runs.

The Trojans jumped ahead early with two runs in the first inning, courtesy of an RBI single from Brooks Mauro and a run-scoring hit by Gray Wells. In the explosive third inning, Anderson strung together timely hits, including a two-run single from Harrison and a key RBI single from Dom Bello. Molinaroli added two more runs with a clutch hit to right center.

Pitcher Walker Noland (5-1) picked up the win, working 6.2 innings while striking out four batters. Charlie Sauls closed the game for his third save of the season, securing the win despite a late push from Tusculum. The Trojans totaled 15 hits in the contest, capitalizing on key moments to maintain their lead.

Game Two: Anderson 6, Tusculum 4

The second game saw Anderson rally late to clinch a 6-4 win. After falling behind 3-1 in the fifth, the Trojans answered with a three-run sixth inning, highlighted by a clutch two-run triple from Gray Wells. Zach Stover then brought home Wells with a groundout, giving Anderson the lead.

The Trojans quickly answered with a pair of runs in the first extra inning. A throwing error by Tusculum allowed one run to score, and a sacrifice fly by Carson Molinaroli extended the lead to 6-4.

Reliever Corben Childers (2-2) was dominant out of the bullpen, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. The Trojans' defense held firm in the final innings, securing the sweep over the Pioneers.
