Trojans Drop Road Contest to No. 21 Rollins

WINTER PARK, FLA. -- The Trojans were unable to top their first nationally ranked opponent of the season, falling 16-9 to No. 21 Rollins College in the first game of their weekend trip to Florida. Anderson is now 1-2 on the season.

Rollins opened the scoring, going up 2-0 before Ava Skeffington (Charlotte, N.C.) put the Trojans on the board in the seventh minute. Skeffington finished the night burying all four shots she took and picking up a career-high eight draw controls.

Ellie Wilkins (Chuluota, Fla.) added a goal and an assist in the first quarter while Megan Muir (Bedford, N.H.) pulled the Trojans level at four to finish the quarter.

The Tars got rolling in the second period and went unanswered by the Trojans, going up 8-4. The Trojans weren't able to counter until Skeffington scored two at the end of the third quarter to put the score at 12-6.

Muir got her second of the day in the fourth quarter and opened a 3-0 scoring run for the Trojans. Ava Scattareggia (Watervliet, N.Y.) scored her first career goal and assisted MaKayla Ott (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) who buried her first goal of the season to put the Trojans within four at 13-9. The Trojans couldn't maintain enough possession to keep the momentum rolling and the Tars scored three more to get the 16-9 win.

Goalkeeper Amelia King (Dacula, Ga.) came up with a career-high 10 saves and picked up two ground balls.

The Trojans have one day off before heading to No. 3 Florida Southern College on Sunday, March 2nd.
