TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- The Trojans made the short trip north to North Greenville on Friday night for the fourth installment of The Holy War rivalry series, falling in the contest 12-10.
The game was off to a slow start offensively, with both sides only scoring once in the opening quarter. North Greenville claimed the first goal of the contest before junior attackman Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied three goals in a row to aid the Trojans to a 4-2 advantage going into halftime.
The third quarter saw the Trojans and Trailblazers alternate goals—a cycle of each team conceding a goal, then answering with one of their own. Anderson scored five goals to North Greenville's six, before NGU went on a run to open Q4, tallying five unanswered. The Black and Gold were unable to rebound, scoring once more with two minutes to play, but coming up short 12-10.
Bitterman led the Trojans with five goals from six shots-on-goal, while junior midfielder Radyn Badraun (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded a brace and an assist for three points on the night. Junior LSM Chris Czulada (Boynton Beach, Fla.) added four caused turnovers and four ground balls to his season resume, and r-freshman goalie Bobby Devenport IV (Wildwood, Ill.) posted a career-high 16 saves.
Anderson continues their stretch of road games next week, traveling to Virginia to play Emory & Henry in the season's conference opener. The game is scheduled for Saturday (March 1) at 2 PM.
