Records Fall as Trojans Trounce Wasps

EMORY, Va. -- The Trojan men's lacrosse team revisited a program record they previously broke in last month's season opener 27-4 win over Young Harris, defeating Emory & Henry 31-3 for the new largest victory in AU history.

The Trojans (3-2, 1-0) traveled to Virginia on Saturday afternoon for this season's conference opener, the Wasps' (0-5, 0-1) inaugural South Atlantic Conference matchup. In the contest, Anderson racked up 31 goals—one shy of the most scored in a game in program history—and only allowed 3, tying the program record for least goals allowed in a game. The Black and Gold combined for 27 assists, 58 points and 88 shots—all of which top their respective stat categories in the Trojan record book.

Radyn Badraun (Mission Viejo, Calif.) contributed four goals in the contest, surpassing the milestone of 100 career goals in the process. Lukas Newman (Townsend, Del.) tallied his first goal wearing an Anderson uniform, before going on to add three more goals to his resume. Ryan Bitterman (Alpharetta, Ga.), Matthew Rodgers (Carmel, Ind.), Brodie Deutsch (Wilmington, N.C.) and Nate Winpisinger (Baltimore, Md.) all recorded hattricks on the afternoon, followed by Noah Steinbrecher (Buford, Ga.) who added a brace.

Cole Sparks (West Islip, N.Y.) went on a statistical tear, combining a goal and four assists for five points, along with two GBs and two CTOs. Chris Czulada (Boynton Beach, Fla.), Chase Robertson (Roanoke, Va.) and Diego Lopez (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) each also tallied two CTOs, contributing to the Trojan's 19 CTO tally—tied for the most in a single game in program history.

AU won 27 of 35 faceoffs, led by Aiden Dixon (Forest Hill, Md.) who went 10-11 and AJ Rush (Chantilly, Va.) who won 9-11. The Black and Gold completed 22 of 24 clears successfully and held Emory & Henry to only 14 of 33.

Anderson looks to carry the momentum from today's game into next week's (March 8) SAC home opener against No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne (5-0, 1-0). Opening faceoff against the Bears is scheduled for noon.
