No. 7 Trojans Break Program Record with 11-Straight Victories, Top Clayton State 73-62

MORROW, GA. – The Anderson University Men's Basketball program (11-0, 5-0 SAC) defeated Clayton State (2-11, 0-5 PBC) in a nonconference matchup on New Years Eve to notch their 11th-straight victory on the season and a new program record for most consecutive wins.

The Trojans are 11-0 on the season and remain one of four unbeaten teams across the nation as of Wednesday evening.

"Proud of our guys." said head coach Jimmie Williams. "The strength of our connection won us the game today. We stayed together and we battled. It would've been easy for guys to try and take things into their own hands. Thankful we have a highly competitive group that plays for each other."

The Black and Gold battled through a tightly contested first half with both teams trading baskets unable to gain control. After the Lakers led 35-30 to round out the first half, the Trojans responded by leveling the score 42-42 before recording an 11-4 run to give AU their largest lead of the game.

Freshman Rashawn Inglemon (Sacramento, Calif.) led the Trojans with 22 points on the board while also going 3-for-3 from the line. Inglemon also notched seven rebounds, five assists and three steals to add to the team's totals.

Sophomore Sentinel Moore (Oklahoma City, Okla.) added 17 points and eight rebounds while shooting 77.8% from the floor and 75.0% from the line. Junior AJ Wright Jr. (Clearwater, Fla.) filled the stat sheet, leading the team with five steals to go along with nine rebounds, nine assists and 14 points on the board.

"AJ was such a leader today, and everyone fed off his belief and passion to win." added Williams. "Sentinel Moore was an absolute warrior out there in the second half. His best ball is still ahead of him, but today was his best so far. He made big plays when we needed it most."

Anderson held the edge with 48 points in the paint opposed to Clayton State's 16 while also recording 16 points off of the Lakers' 19 turnovers.

"Hats off to Coach Alexander and Clayton State. They play hard and have really good guards that present problems. They are going to win games in the Peach Belt. Happy New Year to our Trojan Army! We are excited to see everyone Saturday back in Abney! I love this team."

The Black and Gold return home from the break when they host Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference Matchup on Saturday, Jan. 3. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
