Trojans Extend Streak to 12 Straight Victories, 73-60

Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University Men's Basketball program (12-0, 6-0 SAC) notched its 12th-straight victory Saturday evening to remain undefeated after surging past conference opponent Wingate (7-4, 2-3 SAC) in a 73-60 victory at home. The Trojans remain one of three undefeated programs in the nation as of Saturday evening.

"One of the things I love most about this team is the competitive spirit we play with." said head coach Jimmie Williams.

The Bulldogs came out strong, taking an early lead in the first half before the Trojans responded with a 16-2 run to seize control for the remainder of the game.

Junior AJ Wright Jr. (Clearwater Fla.) led the Trojans overall tallying 17 points on the board, shooting 85.7% from the line and 71.4% from the floor, while also recording seven assists. He anchored the Trojans defensively with eight rebounds and one steal added to the team's totals.

Junior Osmar Garcia-Araujo (Sugar Hill, Ga.) added 16 points on the floor while shooting 60.0% from the floor with five assists. He aided the Trojan's defense with four rebounds and three steals. Also recording double digits on the game was sophomore Caleb McAbee (Saint Johns, Fla.) notching 15 points, shooting 55.7% from the floor and adding five rebounds to Anderson's total. Freshman Rashawn Inglemon (Sacramento, Calif.) and senior Malachai Reeves (Lexington, S.C.) each recorded a perfect free throw percentage while also adding three and four rebounds respectively to Anderson's final tally.

"We had a few things defensively that we locked in on in the scout, and we did not waiver from it." added Williams. "I had to call a timeout when we were up 20 with 20 seconds to go because AJ was about to throw up on the court. That's the group we have. Guys that empty their tank every time they play. You can accomplish a lot in life with that kind of commitment."

Anderson led the contest in all major statistical categories with 33 rebounds while shooting 73.9% from the line, 51.0% from the floor and 27.3% from behind the arc. The Trojans had a dominant defensive performance with six steals, two blocks and 11 points off turnovers.

"We will enjoy this win tonight and we'll get to church together in the morning. He gets all the glory. What a blessing it is coaching this team."

The Black and Gold are back continue their four-game home series when they host Coker in a conference matchup on Wednesday, Jan 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
