NEWBERRY, S.C. – For the best start in program history, Anderson University Men's Basketball (9-0, 4-0 SAC) remains unbeaten after defeating Newberry (5-5, 2-4 SAC) in an 87-63 victory on the road Wednesday evening.

Jimmie Williams. "Newberry is a tough, physical team, and it's always hard to win at their place. Thankful we were able to get the stops needed to win."
The Wolves battled on their own court, displaying a strong effort and keeping the game competitive early in the first half, but the Trojan's defense set the tone, preventing Newberry from capitalizing on scoring opportunities.
After the Wolves evened the score at 10-10 early in the first, the Trojans responded with an 11-3 run to take a 21-13 lead with ten minutes left in the first half of the contest. The Trojans took their largest lead of 24 points after coming out of the break, bringing the energy offensively.
"Our guy's love playing together." Added Williams. "A close friend and mentor came to the game tonight. He told me afterwards how much he loves the speed and intensity we play with, and that it's easy to see our guy's love playing together.
The Black and Gold led the match in all statistical categories with 40 points in the paint while shooting 51.4% from the floor and 100% from the line to topple Newberry. Three Trojans put double digit points on the board for Anderson to take the lead. Freshman
Rashawn Inglemon (Sacramento, Calif.) tallied a commanding 29 points and four steals while shooting 100% from the line, 77.7% from behind the arc, and 66.6% from the floor. Junior
Osmar Garcia-Araujo (Sugar Hill, Ga,) recorded 17 points on the game with four assists and went 3-for-3 from the line while also shooting 77.7% from the floor. Redshirt-senior
Kadyn Dawkins (Greensboro, N.C.) also added 14 points to the Trojan's tally and went 2-for-2 from the line.

Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.) shot 100% from the line to round out Anderson's perfect free throws while junior
AJ Wright Jr. (Clearwater, Fla.) led the team with seven rebounds and four assists.

The Black and Gold are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 20 when they host Lincoln Memorial for their final home game of the year. The contest is slated for 4 p.m.
