YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. -- The Trojans earned a big comeback 69-58 victory on the road at Young Harris on Wednesday afternoon to move to 4-3 overall on the season. The Trojans were down until the fourth quarter which they won 27-9, going on an explosive 20-0 run in the final five minutes to secure their fourth win of the season.
"Really proud of our fight today," head coach Jonathan Barbaree said. "There were several moments that we could have folded but we continued to climb back into the game. From two minutes into the fourth quarter we played like we wanted it more. That's the look that we have been waiting on. But overall a great team effort."
The Trojans trailed for 31 minutes of the game, going down by as many as 11 early in the fourth quarter. It was then that the Trojans turned things around and got an 11-point lead of their own to finish. They shot 57.1 percent from the field with four triples in the final ten minutes.Â
The Trojans shot 43.6 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from behind the arc and 65.0 percent from the line. They held the Mountain Lions to a 35.5 shooting percentage though Young Harris had the edge on the boards 37-26.
Junior
Peytyn Oliver (Athens, Tenn.) led the scoring for the Trojans, tying her career-high of 16 points on 5-14 shooting from the field and 4-11 shooting from deep. She added two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Oliver addd eight points in the final quarter.Â
Junior
Kyla Cain (Atlanta, Ga.) came off the bench for a career-high of her own with 15 points on 4-6 shooting from the field and career-high 6-10 from the free throw line. She added four rebounds, a tem-high and career-high five assists and two steals.Â
Freshman
Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) tied her career-high of 12 points with three assists, two rebounds, two blocks and one steal. She shot 5-10 from the field and 2-3 from deep. Hill came up with 10 points in the final quarter to lead the Trojan comeback.Â
The Trojans get back to South Atlantic Conference play this Saturday, Dec. 13th at 2 p.m. when they take on Carson-Newman on the road.Â
