EMORY, Va. -- The Trojans opened South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday night with an 84-73 loss to Emory & Henry (2-3, 0-1 SAC). Anderson moves to 2-2 overall with the loss.
The Trojans stayed tough with the Wasps through the first two quarters, going into the locker room up 39-38.
The Wasps ran away with things in the third quarter, winning the ten minutes 24-12. The Trojans had their worst shooting quarter at 31.2 percent, making just five field goals.
Anderson rallied in the fourth quarter with their best field goal shooting at 50.0 percent with nine field goals and four triples. They tied the Wasps 22-22 but couldn't bridge the gap left from the third quarter.
As a team, the Trojans shot 28-65 from the field and 6-17 from deep. They missed just two shots from the line, going 11-13.
Freshman
Ashley Hill (Covington, Ga.) had a career-high 12 points and a career-high five rebounds, while senior
Khiara Flugence (Boerne, Texas) came up with the same stat line.
Graduate student
Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) added another 12 points and two rebounds. She went 6-6 at the free throw line.
Sophomore
Rose Gravel (Ocala, Fla.) came up with a season-high and team-high 10 rebounds with seven points.
Senior
Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) came up with ten points.
The Trojans will look to bounce back on Tuesday, Dec. 2 when they head to Francis Marion University for a nonconference battle at 5:30 p.m.
