FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Trojans couldn't top Francis Marion (5-1) in a nonconference road contest on Tuesday night, falling 80-69 to the Patriots. Anderson moves to 2-3 on the season.
Graduate student
Ciara Harris (Alexandria, Va.) dropped a career-high 28 points in the win with five rebounds and one steal. She shot 11-15 from the field and 3-4 from deep.
Sophomore
Rose Gravel (Ocala, Fla.) followed up with 11 points, five rebounds and a team-high three blocks.Ā
Junior
Peytyn Oliver (Athens, Tenn.) came up with 10 points, four rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists.Ā
Senior
Ashlyn Sheridan (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the boards for both teams with a season-high eight rebounds along with six points.
Anderson was unable to gain a lead in the first half and went into the locker room down 42-35 at the half. They rallied early in the second half, winning the third quarter 22-17 to get within two at 59-57. The third quarter was the only time the Trojans were able to get ahead but the Patriots dominated the final ten minutes 21-12 to secure the win.Ā
The Trojans had their second-highest shooting percentage from three at 38.9 and they shot 46.3 percent overall from the field. They came up with 33 rebounds.
The Patriots capitalized on the Trojans' turnovers, forcing 21 and scoring 24 points from turnovers.Ā
The Trojans look to bounce back in their home opener this Saturday, Dec. 6 when they host Mars Hill University at 2 p.m.
