ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's basketball (5-0) set two all-time program records with 24 three-pointers and 133 points scored in a single game against Bob Jones (3-2) on Monday evening.
"What a fun night in Abney." said head coach
Jimmie Williams. "It's like the great paradox of life, you have to lay your life down to gain it."
The Trojans blew past a 16-year record set in Jan. 2009, tallying 10 more points than the previous record of 122. With 24 threes in the game, the Black and Gold broke the all-time program record for three-point field goals in a single game dating back to Jan. 2023 against fellow SAC opponent Lincoln Memorial.
"In basketball terms, when you don't care about points and stats you break a school record for points and stats. I am most proud of the unselfishness that permitted through our program" Added Williams.
Anderson dominated the court offensively, with seven players finishing in double figures. The last time seven Trojans scored double digits was in Feb, 2024 when Anderson defeated Cover 111-98. Freshman
Rashawn Inglemon (Sacramento, Calif.) went six-for-six in threes, tallying 21 points on the court. Redshirt senior
Kadyn Dawkins (Greensboro, N.C.) also recorded 21 points on the game with an 87.5% three-point percentage.
Sophomore
Caleb McAbee (Saint Johns, Fla.) and senior
Malachi Reeves (Lexington, S.C.) also recorded 19 and 15 points on the game while going five-for-six and three-for-six in shots behind the arch. Rounding out the double-figure scoring for the Trojans was sophomore
Sentinel Moore (Oklahoma City, Okla.), junior
Osmar Garcia-Araujo (Sugar Hill, Ga.) and redshirt senior
James Repass (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) tallying 14, 12, and 10 points respectively.
Also contributing to the program's three-point record was junior
Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.),
AJ Wright Jr. (Clearwater, Fla.) and sophomore
Cal Godfrey (Easley, S.C.), each recording a bucket from behind the arch.
"The Trojan Army showed out in a big way tonight. I love that our student section loves assists and unselfish play the most. They get the loudest when the ball moves and we play together like that. Awesome being at a school that aligns with how we are, and what we're striving to be. Big night from a lot of guys. Love this team."
The Black and Gold begin conference play when they travel to Emory & Henry on Saturday, Nov. 29. The game is slated for 4 p.m.
