Trojans Drop 63 Points in Second Half to Upset Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Trojans answered a 20-point deficit in the first half with a 63-point second half to carry them to a gritty 95-90 win over Coker University who currently sits at No. 3 in the South Atlantic Conference. Anderson moves to 11-8 and 7-8 in the SAC with the win.

"So proud of our guys," head coach Jimmie Williams said. "To be down 20 on the road and stay together and stay with it, is credit to their character. We have had a few tough close ones go the other way on the road. Our entire program owned it and stuck together this week in practice."

The Trojans went from shooting 29.7 percent from the field and 10.5 percent from deep in the first half to 60 and 61.5 percent in the second half.

"We were getting good shots in the first half, just didn't get them to go. They kept shooting and kept working to get great ones. We also took care of the ball a lot better in the second half which is key against their press. AJ had a big night with 26 points and 9 assists. Cole pulling down 9 of his game high 14 boards in the 2nd half was huge. But this was a program win, everyone contributed, and God gets the honor and glory. I love this team."

The win was revenge for the Trojans who were just three points shy of an upset over the Cobras earlier this season when they fell 100-97 at home.

AJ Wright Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) was huge for the Trojans with a career-high 26 points in 30 minutes of play, flirting with a double-double with nine assists. He shot 8-13 from the field and 9-11 from the line.

Austin Webb (South Point, Ohio) dropped 18 points with 16 in the second half alone and added seven rebounds.

Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) came up with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds, just one shy of his career-high.

Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.) had 12 points and five rebounds.

Sam Perez (Apex, N.C.) came off the bench for ten points in nine minutes while Caleb McAbee (Saint Johns, Fla.) added eight.

The Trojans will be back home this weekend for another big SAC test as they host No. 10 Lincoln Memorial Univeristy on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m.
