WISE, VA -- Despite getting a 71-66 win over UVA Wise earlier this season, the Trojans couldn't get the win on Saturday on the road, falling 72-65 to the Cavaliers. The Trojans move to 10-7 and 6-7 in the South Atlantic Conference where they sit at 8th place.
The Trojans found themselves down 35-26 at the half after seven lead changes and couldn't make up for it despite winning the second half 39-37. They shot 29.4 percent from the field in the first half but were much improved in the second half, shooting 46.8 percent.
All but one Trojan with minutes got on the board, led by
AJ Wright Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) with 13 points. It was his highest scoring game since mid-December. He added seven assists, five rebounds and three steals.
Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.) came up with 10 points in just 16 minutes of play, tacking on five rebounds.
Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) dropped nine points with six rebounds.
Sam Perez (Apex, N.C.) also came up with six rebounds.
Sentinel Moore (Oklahoma City, Okl.) came off the bench for eight points and four rebounds along with two blocks.
The Trojans get a midweek break before their rematch with Carson-Newman on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 4:00 p.m. on the road. The Eagles took the last matchup 95-92.
