Trojans Edged By No. 24 Lenoir-Rhyne 78-74

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson fought a battle with the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears on Wednesday night but couldn't top the nationally-ranked team, falling 78-74. The loss is the Trojans' first in the past six games as they move to 10-6 overall and 6-6 in the South Atlantic Conference.

"Heavy weight fight tonight. Physical everywhere," head coach Jimmie Williams said. "Proud of the way we competed. They made a few more plays than we did late but we gave it our best. We'll respond. I love this team."

The Trojans got five leads in the contest and had things all tied up at the half at 37. Despite taking a quick lead coming out of the locker room, the Bears took and held the lead for the remainder of the game.

Dallas Jones (Gainesville, Fla.) dropped a career-high 22 points on 8-16 shooting from the field and 3-7 shooting from deep. He added three rebounds and three steals.

Three other Trojans were in double digits, with Austin Webb (South Point, Ohio) putting up 13 points and seven rebounds, Cole Middleton (Atlanta, Ga.) adding 11 points with eight rebounds and Malachi Reeves (Lexington, S.C.) coming off the bench for 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

The Trojans hit the road to take on UVA Wise for the second time this season on Saturday, Jan. 18th at 4:00 p.m. Anderson took the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season 71-66.
